Results were:— 880 YARDS MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP. G< Bridson (Auckland) .. ». 1 A. Stokes (Canterbury) ». >. 2 H. Gowan (Wanganui) . . 3 Also Started.—J. Enwright (Auckland),C. Claridgo (Wellington), D. Murrell '(Wellington), G. RLx-Trott (Wellington), ,W. Ryland (Wanganui). Tho time for tho 100 yards was 645, for tho 200 yards 2m 20 4-ss, for the 220 2m 36 3-ss, and for tho 300 yards 3m 40 4-ss. Bridson .kept alongside Stokes and both were a considerable distance ahead of tho others at the end of 500 yards, covered in 6m 24 4-ss. When 600 yards had been completed Bridson and Stokes swam level. Gowan was in third place at 650 yards, having drawn ahead of Claridgo, who upon finding tho. distance increased ,to ten feet at 700 yards, dropped out . of tho contest. Bridson led at 800 yards, for which the time was 10m 30 2-ss. It was tho beginning of tho end. Stokes could do no mor§ and Bridson won by 15 yards. Gowan was well back third. Time, 11m ■3l- 3-55.-
