TROUBLES OF SOVIET.
DILEMMA ABOUT TROTZKY. EXPULSION OF COMMUNISTS. Australian and N.SJ. Press Association. Times Cable. LONDON. Feb. 3. The Riga correspondent of (he Morning Post says a hitch has arisen in regard to Trotzky's departure from Russia. Stalin insists that Madame Trotzky and their children shall remain in .Moscow as hostages against Trotzky's possible hostile activities. Trotzky declines to leave without his family, so Stalin is on the horns of a dilemma. Tho Riga correspondent of the Times says about 150,000 out of the 600,000 officials of tho Communist Party, according to the Pravda, will be expelled in an impending spring cleaning. The Soviet has decided to have this carried out owing to the failure of (he Central Control Commission to cope with the alien elements which are penetrating to the higher party organisation. There have been many arrests at Harbin and other stations on the Chinese eastern railway. Those arrested include tho president' of three trades unions, who, like the others arrested, arc Soviet officials.
