KING LEAVES HIS BED.

CHAIR AT PALACE WINDOW.

DOCTORS' CAUTIOUS REPORT.

RECOVERY NECESSARILY SLOW.

Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON. Feb. 3.

An improvement in the King's coudition enabled his removal to-day from his bed to a chair. He was wheeled to a window, from which ho enjoyed looking out upon a sunny day. A British official wireless message says the following official statement was issued from Buckingham Palace last evening:— 'There is a tendency among certain sections of (he public, and in some of the organs of the press, to assume that the King's transference to Bognor will usher in his convalescence. This view is incorrect. It will be recalled that the bulletins and the medical reports have stated that His Majesty's progress is happily reaching a stage when it would be advantageous to remove him to the seaside with a view of accelerating the establishment of his convalescence in the not too distant future.

" Although His Majesty's condition continues to improve, the process of recovery after so severe an illness must of necessity be slow."

This statement indicates that the King's medical advisers are still not prepared to bo more optimistic than the circumstances warrant. Tho Pioval patient is still in an extremely weak state, and, although an air of confidence prevails in tho Palace, any undue feeling that the King is now making rapid strides toward convalescence is being discouraged.
