TO-DAY'S WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening;— Fair to cloudy weather conditions are indicated, although unsettled at times, with occasional showers, particularly in places near the west coast and in southern areas. There is a tendency for scattered thunderstorms, accompanied by hail, in areas near tho west coast. Westerly to southwesterly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times. Rough seas on tho west coast of both islands and on the south-west Tasman Sea, mainly moderate elsewhere. The intense disturbance of Antarctic character still controls Dominion weather conditions, and boisterous weather is expected, especially in the South. Cool temperatures. Barometer, midnight, rising . . 29.95 in. Midnight, Sunday . . . . 29.80 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —The depression is now moving off New Zealand to the eastward, while a moderate anticyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Indications are for winds mainly westerly at first, but southerly in the far south and south-westerlies gradually becoming general; moderate to strong and in some places of gale force. Seas becoming rather rough to rough in New Zealand waters generally. Strong south-westerly to southerly winds and <rough seas in the eastern Tasman. Unsettled weather on the West Coast of tho South Island, and in the far south with rain, later extending to other districts. A cold change shortly. ' RAINFALL RECORD.
