Four new records were established at the New Zealand amateur swimming championships which were continued to-uay at the 1 e Aro Baths. R. Geddes (Otago) .won the junior boys' breaststroko championship in 60 4-5 seconds, clipping 1 2-5 seconds off (he record of Olds, the Otago swimmer. A. Stokes (Canterbury) won the 220 yards men's championship in 2m 31s, or 3-5s better than the record of L. L. Kronfeld (Auckland). L. J. Moorhouso (Canterbury) won the mens 150 yards backstroke in lm 52 l-ss, beating by 2-5s the previous best by L. I"airgray (Auckland), Miss P. Robertson (Auckland) clipped'2-5s off the record of lm 8 4-5s by Miss D. Magee (Auckland) for the 100 yards intermediate girls' championship. A splendid contest was provided in the 220 yards ladies' championship. Miss D. Grant (Auckland) appeared to be a sure winner, but Miss R. Miller (Wellington), the title-holder, made a magnificent spurt and retained her title. D. P. Lindsay (Auckland) has withdrawn from all further contests, as he must return to Auckland. Following are to-day's results:— 50 YARDS JUNIOR GIRLS' BREASTSTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP. Miss J. Webster (Auckland) .. .. 1 Miss Z. Fryer (llawke's Bay) . . . . 2 Miss D. Johnston (Wanganui) . . . 3 Won by one yard, a touch separating second and third, 'lime, 435. 75 YARDS JUNIOR HOYS' BREASTSTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP. R. Geddes (Otago) 1 B. Greener (Wanganui) J. Hunter (Canterbury) 3 Won by 10 yards in 50 4-ss, a New Zealand record. 100 YARDS INTERMEDIATE GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP. Miss P. Robertson (Auckland) . . . 1 Miss M. Smith (Auckland) . . . . 2 Miss M. Mathieson (Otago) . . . . 3 Won by nearly eight yards. Three yards separated second and third. Time, 68 2-ss, a New Zealand record. 150 YARDS MEN'S BACKSTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP. I/. J. Grant (Auckland) .. . . 2 Miss E. Stockley (Auckland) . . . . 3 Miss Miller finished in great style to win by three yards to spare. Miss Stockley was four yards behind Miss Grant, and secured third place only by a touch. Time, 2in 50 3-ss. 220 YARDS MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP. A. Stokes (Canterbury) 1 D. Lindsay (Auckland) 2 G. Bridson (Auckland) . . . . . 3 Bridson took the lead and completed the first lap of 50 yards in 28 seconds, Clarldge and Lindsay being the next to turn. Lindsay picked up and at 100 yards was a close second to Bridson, who covered the distance in 59 2-ss. Stokes spurted and at the third turn lie and Lindsay were level, second, to Bridson. The 150 yards had been' covered in lm 35 4-ss. Bridson faded, and Stokes turned first for the last 20 yards. Stokes won with a margin of sft. and Lindsay came second hv a touch from Bridson. Time, 2m 31s, a New Zealand record. 440 YARDS INTERMEDIATE BOYS' CHAMPIONSHIP. R. Sutherland (South Canterbury) . . 1 C. McConville .(Canterbury) . . . . 2 F. Kelly (Hawke's Bay) . . . . . 3 Sutherland won by three yards, a similar distance separating McConville and Kelly. Time, 6m 21 l-ss. POLO CHAMPIONSHIP. Canterbury, 6, beat Otago. 0.
