VETERAN TAMMANY LEADER. ANOTHER TWO YEARS' WORK. [FROM OUll OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW YORK, Jan. 9. Mr. John R. Yoorhis, venerable Grand Sachem of Tammany, who will be 100 next July, has been unanimously reappointed to the Board of Aldermen for another two-year term as Commissioner of elections. Commissioner Yoorhis, his 99 years notwithstanding, braved a stormy night to go from his Greenwich Village home to the meeting. The resolution was adopted unanimously, amid a volley of applause, which brought a .smile of pleasure to the face of the aged commissioner. Air. Voorhis has been one of the Democratic members and head of the Board of Elections continuously since 1918. He served on the board earlier in life under appointment from Mayor Van Wyck and was continued by his successor, Seth Low, a Republican. Under Governor John A. l)ix, ho served as State Superintendent of Elections.
