Police investigations at Newcastle, NoV South Wales, recently, into threats alleged to have been made against the life of a married woman resident on the Hunter River foreshores near Hexham had a sensational sequel. Whilo the woman'was being questioned at her home as to the naturo of her trouble, she suddenly picked up her three-months-old baby, which had been sleeping quietly beside her, and threw it at the polieeman'a head.

Another constable ran in and caught the baby before it fell to the floor, and it suffered no harm from its treatment. The mother was later taken to the Newcastle reception house. It was believed that she was suffering from persecution mania.
