THE RAGWORT MENACE.

Sir, —Is ifc not time the Government and all county councils seriously took up this ragwort question ? Even if to-day it costs the country a few thousand pounds to check the spread of ragwort that would be preferable to an outlay, in a few years, of a few hundred thousand. Incidentally, work might be fuund for some of the unemployed and the money could thus be spent profitably. To my knowledge there have been quite a number of dairy stock poisoned with ragwort this season. Ragw;ort is spreading at such a rate that fanners, who, last year, carried plants home in sacks and burned them, are this year bringing in sledge loads. Something, besides writing About 'this curse of ragwort, doing and doing urgently. Would it be practicable and advisable that more inspectors be appointed ? "Woi.ried Faejieb.
