WEEKLY WESTFIELD SALE.

AVERAGE YARDING OF BEEF.

LATE RATES MAINTAINED

An average yarding o[ boot cuttle came forward at yesterday's weekly fat stock sulo at Westfield. The demand was steady throughout and lato rates wore maintained, with a slight tendency to an incrcaso. Extra choice ox sold at up to 435, equal to last week's rato. The quality of the ox beef was first-class. Cow beof, which came forward in average numbers, sold at last week's rates. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l6 10s to £l7 12s 6d. Sheep were yarded in average numbers, with little alteration from last week's prices. Prime wethers sold very readily at late rates, while young owes were in demand. Older ones were, however, hard to sell. Lambs came forward in average numbers and sold at a little below lato rates. They included a fair proportion of fat and store lambs

The number of pigs ottered was a little above the average. Prices showed a rising tendency, consequent upon good competition and a ready sale.

The demand for calves weakened as the sale progressed. A sale of Southdowns on account of Mr. C. E. Vile was lielcl at Pulmerston North show grounds to-day. The sheep came forward in excellent condition and were typical of the breed Tliero were buyers present from Auckland to the lMui't, and from the first lot offered spirited compstition was forthcoming until the cud of the sale. A number of sheep were purchased for Australia.
