CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

FORMATION DECIDED UPON.

At a well-attended meeting to discuss a proposal to form a Coromandel Chamber of Commerce, Mr. T. W. Rhodes presided. Mr. M. Gorrie was temporarily appointed secretary. Mr. H. W. Howell, convener of the meeting, outlined the objects and advantages of such a body. Several speakers lay stress on tlio need for such an organisation.

It was resolved that a chamber be formed, and the following were appointed a committees to draft rules aud silbmit theni to another meeting to be held soon:—Messrs. Howell, C. Wilson, Smith, Gorrio, Rhodes, Darling and Rostgard. The meeting was then addressed by Mr. N. W. Hastings, of Morrinsville, one of the organisers and district agent of the New Zealand Co-operative Pigmarketing Association. Information was given regarding the advantages to growers of disposing of porkers and baconers through the agency of the association, which last season had handled over 37,000 pigs, most of which had been exported. A committee consisting of Messrs. Gorrie, Darling, Mannion, Preece and Reddy, was appointed to canvass growers in the district with a view to their disposing of their pigs through the asso; ciation.
