BUTTER MARKET FIRMER. NEW ZEALAND 186s TO 188s. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. LONDON. Jan. 10. The butter market is firmer all round. New Zealand butter is selling freely at 186s, with exceptional quality commanding up to 188s. Amalgamated Dairies yesterday received the following cablegram from its London manager:—Butter: Prices unchanged; market quiet with a firm undertone. Danish, 188s, f.o.b Cheese: White, 945; coloured, 965, market steady. Mr. W. W. Bowker received the following cablegram from his London principals, A. J. MARKET REPORTS. FRUIT AND PRODUCE PRICES. Larger quantities of local new season's fruit were available at the Auckland City Markets yesterday. Outdoor tomatoes, peaches, plums, apples, apricots and black currants were in heavy supply, and met with a good demand. Strawberries are now in shorter supply, but prices remain unchanged. A few early figs are on sale, at prices ranging from 6s to 10s a case. Vegetables of all kinds remain in very heavy supply. The market is glutted with new potatoes at 2s to 4s 6d a bag, and onions and cabbage are available in large quantities. All varieties met with a good demand. Poultry was in very heavy supply, but the demand was not keen. Old ducks were difficult of sale at Is each. Duck eggs show an increase of' Id a dozen, other varieties remaining at ruling rates. Moderate supplies met with a poor demand. Farmers' butter was a little cheaper, plentiful supplies meeting with a moderate demand at from Is to Is 3d a lb. Yesterday's prices were as follows: FRUIT. Some business has been done in forward oats and peas, but other lines are practically lifeless. The little interest shown in fowl wheat during the early part of the week has not been maintained, although there is no change in price. Up to 5s 9d, f.0.b., sacks extra, is quoted for April-June. A Garton oats have been sold at 3s 6J,d for April-September delivery. However, buyers are few. Somo purchases from fanners have been made at 3s on trucks. . A slight demand has set in for bright oatsheaf chaff and £3 17s 6d a ton, on trucks, has been paid. The damage done to the pea crop by the rains is stimulating a little interest. Quotations are 6s 3d, f.o.b. With the exception of an inquiry from the North Island this week for cowgrass there has been nothing doing in the seed market. The cutting of ryegrass and cocksfoot has commenced on the plains. The potato market shows no change. The f.o.b. price of £5 a ton foi AprilMay delivery is not being reflected in the values asked by farmers. Growers are asking £4 on trucks. Onions are a shade firmer and March-April are quoted at £5 10s to £5 15s. February delivery is worth £7 10s to £7 15s. BRAN AND POLLARD PRICES. SYDNEY, Jan. 11. The New South Wales Flour Millers' Association to-day raised the prices of bran and pollard by 15s to £7 a ton. LONDON WOOL SALES.
