GRAMMAR SCHOOL EVENING.
The pupils of tho Takapuna Grammar School gave a most enjoyable entertainment at tho Devonport Parish Hal! last evening. The school orchestra, conducted by Mr. J. Thompson, played a number of selections and tho girls and boys of the different forms acted in several sketches, these being much appreciated by the large number of parents and friends present. Songs and rounds were sung by tho third, and fifth form girls, and a display of physical culture was given by girls of tho third forms. Beside poi and country dances Miss A. Stevenson gave an exhibition sword dance and Miss Joyce Croshcr's elocutionary item caused much amusement. Tho proceeds are to bo donated to the school fund. The same programme will bo given at tho Foresters' liall at Takapuna this evening. Taking part in the entertainment were tho following:—II. Mair, M. Brewer, E. Bentlev, 1. Ashwin, M. Cliing, Z. Watkins, M . Deighton, N. Jackson, M. Git - tos, H. Schmidt, J. Broberg, S. Bamford, A. Smith, L. Terry, A. Best, V. Cunningham, M. McMurtrie, J. Mavson, W. Leggett, J. Minhinnick, B. Urquharl, J. Warren, W. Scholium, Brownhall, Archer, Ormiston, Bcntley, Moual, Alexander, McCutchen, Swain, Harris. The children were trained for tho evening's performance by tho masters and mistresses of the school.
