WRITINGS OF PROFESSORS. 14 OFFENDERS DEGRADED. Times Cable. LONDON, Nov. 25. Tho Riga correspondent of tho Times says tho Soviet lias degraded 14 professors, members of tho Academy of Science resident in Leningrad. They were accused of defaming tho Soviet's regime abroad by contributing writings to a volume devoted to archaeology and art and published at Praguo. Especially did tho Soviet resent an academician, Zhebeleff, writing a biography of tho archaeologist, Smirnoff, who died in 1918, in which the writer said Smirnoff was fortunate to dio when ho did becauso ho had avoided au evil decade.
