NEW SOUTH WALES AREA.
BRITAIN APPROVES WORK. SYDNEY, Nov. 2r,. Tho British Government has agreed that the huge irrigation scheme in connection with tho Lachlan River, New South Wales, should come within its loan of £3'1,000,000 to Australia for development works. It is estimated that this scheme, which includes tho construction of a great clam at Wyangala, 300 miles west of Sydney, will cost £1,250,000. The darn will irrigate a vast area of laud suitable for wheat and fruit. This area now is sparsely populated.
