THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

BREWERY SHARES EASIER. After being closed since Friday's late call, the Auckland Stock Exchange reopened to business yesterday, when only limited activity was shown. Offers for most classes of Government securities were made at a slightly lower level than on Friday, but holders showed no sympathetic tendency. There were two sales of War Loans, 1959, 4A per cent., at £99 7s 6d, the rate current last week. The banking section was quieter than usual. There was only one sale —a transaction in Commercials of Australia at 50s sd, an advance of Id on the market prijo recently current. Holders of New South Wales dropped their price by 2s 6d to £sl 17s 6d during the day, and inquiries firmed by 5s to £sl ss, but no business resulted. New Zealands were again wanted at 61s 6d, but holders asked 62s 3d, or 3d more than on Friday. In insurance business was done at the j current level. New Zealands changed j hands at 475, and there were two sales! of South British at 645, with more wanted at that figure. In gas Aucklands could be had at 23s 4d. the price ruling last week at the late call, but inquiries were Id easier at 23s 2d. In shipping iluddart-Parkers were still on offer at 48s, the current level, and buyers advanced by 3d to 47s 9d, without inducing business. In biewery shares New Zealands again weakened. The shares were offered at 58s on Friday, but holders yesterday reduced their price at each call until the shares could be had at 56s 6d at the third call. Buyers, however, showed no interest. Last week's closing sale was at 575. Iti miscellaneous Colonial Sugars had their first sale since the payment of the recent dividend. Business was done at £59, compared with £63 at the preceding s;de in September. The ordinary issue of Electrolytic Zincs changed hands at 55s 3d, ati advance of 3d on last week's rate. Wilsons Cements were offered, ex div., at 40s 3d. buyers 40s. Sales were made last week at 41s. In milling Waihis were done at 14s lid. the rate current at the close of last week.
