CARGO STEAMER SINKS.
DISASTER OFF AFRICA.
CREW SAVED IN LIFEBOATS. CAPTAIN REMAINS ON BOARD. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received November 23, 6.5 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Nov. 21. The British cargo steamer Cariboo has been wrecked. The vessel left East London yesterday in a terrific storm and ran on to tbo rocks 35 miles south of tiiat port. Slie was refloated under her own steam, but began to founder. Tlio crew took to the boats and were picked up by another steamer. The captain remained on board.
The Cariboo was a steel screw steamer of 7275 tons. She was built at Clydebank in 1924 by John Brown and Company, Limited, and was owned by Elder Dempster and Company, Limited. Her port of registry was Liverpool.
