OBITUARY.
MR. G. H. CROWE. A well-known farmer of the Paliialua and Takapau districts, Mr, G. 11. Crowe, has died at Takanini, aged 79, Mr. Crowo was born at Hobart, coming to New Zealand witli iiis parents when one year old. lie lived in Wellington for 50 years, then leaving to take up farming, 110 retired about 12 years ago and camo to livo with a son, Mr. A. Crowe, at Takanini. 'rhcro aro six children and six step-children, also a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. MR. WILLIAM SMITH. [by ieuh;n.mi. —ow.v cokukstonpext.] HAMILTON, Sunday. 'I he death occurred at Hamilton yesterday of Mr. William Smith at the age of 47 years. Mr. Smith, who was born at Thames, camo to Hamilton over 20 years ago, and for many years was a prominent representative Rugby footballer, lie was exceedingly popular, lie leaves a widow and family.
MU. WILLIAM It. KETTLE. [BY IXI.KGII.vrH. —J'RESS ASSOCIATION.] GKEYMOI'TH. Sunday. The death occurred yesterday of Mr. William Robert Kettle, aged 84. Mr. Kettle was born in London and arrived with his parents at Greymouth in 1874. Subsequently he started business as a general merchant and was during his life Mayor, chairman of the Harbour Hoard, Grey Education Hoard, Hospital Hoard, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and also served on numerous local bodies and societies. 110 was prominent in commercial firms, racing and trotting clubs. Ho was also a Freemason and Druid, chairman of the Greymouth Evening Star Company, and during the war was u prominent member of the Grey Patriotic Society. 110 visited Honolulu for the Press Congress in 1923 and celebrated his golden wedding this year Mr. Kettle is survived by a widow, two daughters and one son.
