SHIPMENT OF WOOL.
UNBLEACHED CALICO PACKS. Discussing tho Government's researches into matters connected with the wool industry, Mr. S. Tapp, of Blenheim, who has had some 50 years' experience in the handling of wool, suggests that Marlborough wool-growers should take the lead and try exporting their wool in unbleached calico packs, which should, of courso, be sewn up inside the ordinary jute packs He said he felt, confident that if this wore dono the wool would bring as much as twopence a pound more on the London market. It was also vitally necessary, ho said, to cross only with pure breeds, while tho question of branding was also important as affecting the price of wool. For short-time branding he recommended n mixture of castor oil and lamp black and, for more permanent marking, a little coal tur could bo added to tho mixture. Both theso brands would scour out easily and without detriment to the wool.
