COMMISSIONER IN LONDON. PROFESSOR SMIDDY APPOINTED. British Wireless. RUGBY. Nov. 22. The appointment of Professor Timothy Smiddy, Free State Minister at Washington, to tho vacant, post of High Commissioner in London in succession to Mr. James McNeill, now Covernor(icnerai, was announced in the Dail yesterday.
Mr. Timothy Smiddy has been Minister at Washington sinco 1924 ; He was professor and dean of tho faculty of commerce at. Cork University. He was for some time a member of the Free St.ato Senate and chairman of the Fiscal Com mittee. ,
