KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR.
INJURIES TO SCHOOLGIRL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DARG AVILLE. Friday. An 11-year-old girl, Peggy Wheddon, (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Wheddon, of Huawai, was knocked down by a motorcar driven by Mr. W. Beckett, of Tokatoka, on tho Turnviri Road yesterday afternoon. The child, who is a pupil at tho Turiwiri school, and boards at Tunwiri, was on her way home from school when she darted across the road in front of tho car, which was proceeding to Dar gaville. Sho was knocked on to tho roadway, sustaining injuries to her head, cuts on tho log, and extensive bruises. Mr. Beckett conveyed her to a hospital, whero it was found necessary to insert several stitches in the cuts on her leg. To-day it was not considered that her injuries aro as serious as was at first thought.
