GILT-EDGED LINES DEMAND.

The better classes of securities were again in demand on tlie Auckland Sharemarket yesterday, when business was closed foe the week to allow of full observance of people's day at the Agricultural and Pastoral Show to-day.

Buvers were ill tho market at late rates for most classes of Government securities. A number of sales of War Loans, 1939, 4J per cent., were piado at £99 7s 6d, a drop of 2s 6d on tho prices paid during tho past three weeks. More wore available at tho same figure, buyers offering £99 ss. Inscribed Stocks, 1933, SJ, per cent., were again done at £lOl 10s, and sellers were ready to placo more at that price, buyers easing 7s 6d to £lOl 2s 6d. In commercial debentures New Zealand Breweries sold at 25s 2d, a shade better than tho last selling figure. Quotations were threepence easier at 25s 6d, buyers unchanged at 255. Tliei e wero more sellers than buyers in tho banking section. Australian Bank of Cominerco sold at the current price of 33s 6d. Australasias, quoted at £l4 16s, 2s higher than tho latest selling price, failed to attract offers. Sellers of Nationals of Now Zealand cased thoir quotations Is 6d to £7 3s 6d, but buyers did not rise beyond £7 Is 6(1. Now Zealands closed unchanged at 62s and 61s 6d. Unions of Australia maintained their upward tendency to sell at £ls 8s 6d, an incroase of Is on recent sales. In insurance, Nationals, ex div., wero listed at 16s 9d and 16s 3d. There was an accommodation movement in Now Zealands, quotations easing threepence to 47s 3d and offers improving by a similar amount to 46s 9d. South British sold at the ruling prico of 645. There was little change in coal shares. In gas, Aucklands again changed hands at 23s 4d, more being available at that figure, buyers 23s 3d. In woollens, Kaiapois had sale at 13s 9d, ft rise of 9d on the lust sale in October, Tho market was steady at 14s and 13s 6d. In miscellaneous offers for Colonial Sugars recovered to £SB 15s, after opening at £SB 10s, and attracted a late quotation of £59 15s. Electrolytic Zincs had sale at 355, an advance of 6d. " Buyers were lirm at 34s 9d, but sellers did not quote. Offers of 41s, tho ruling price, for Wilsons Conient failed to attract quotations.
