If you arc moving into a new house, you want everything new, too. But it isn't always possible. Household goods liavo a way of following you • round from house to house; other old friends insist on coming, too, says an authority.
But wo can usually afford n new carpet. Instead of having strips of plain pile carpet sewn together, chooso strips of two colours sewri together for a long room. [ have seen good effects achieved in two shades of brown, or black with grey, blue end grey, rnauvo and black.
The result is that of a, whole striped carpet.
If you arc having the house built for you, try to have as many recesses as possible.
These should be painted a deeper shade than the rest of the room and the light put in the. recess.
