OUR CITY'S LOVELY BEACHES. Auckland beaches are going lje . vor >' brilliant this summer, for dress designers have done their utmost to make seashore clothes as attractive as garden-party ones. No longer shall wo dream of dashing into the sea for our daily dip covered in an arrneniie or folded "swimmer." And the big bath towel that hid its dingy shabbiness is seen, fortunately, no more. Tho bathing suit is very short this year, and the most fashionable ones are made all in one with a coloured top and black shorts. They are buckled in a businesslike way round tho waist. But it the new bathing coats that are so delightful. v These arc made of gay coloured American cloth, lined with Terry towelling. And thov are windproof. , One of the loveliest seen was of bright apple green. Al each corner them were large windmills in stitching as decoration. It was sewn through Lutli materials. This rrave a clear outline on ihe shiny green cloth and a " shadow " pattern on the towelling inside. It was as beautifully tailored as a smart tweed coat.
