TE KUITI MEETING.

FIRST DAY'S EVENTS. I The Te Kuiti Racing Club's meeting opens to-day and with fine wcuther there should bo a large assemblage at Te Kumi. Tho acceptances received for the various events augur well for the complete success of the gathering. The following is a list of the acceptances received for the various events: 12 Noon.—KOPAKI HURDLES.

REVIEW Of THE FIELDS. BY ARCHICI!. There is a moderate class engaged m the Kopaki Hurdle* and Stormy seems likely to be a good favourite. Stormy has lately raced well on the flat and in hi* only start over hurdles made a fine showing, few of the others have uny recent form and the most likely improvers may be Star of the East and Tinopono. Lady Spalpeen and Karndon have previously shown form in moderate company and may also be possibilities Backers will probably go for Stormy, Tinopono and Star of the East. Runners will be numerous in the Awakino Handicap and the draw for positions may have an effect on the betting Bombarder, Frothblower and Te Ngeru are recent winners likely to race well, and Abbey Queen is speedy. Takutama is also smart and Kerry Dance may win at any time row. Monetize has another engagement and may possibly be missing from this race. In his probablo absence Bombarder, Frothblower and Kerry Dance may be the popular fancies.

Few ot those engaged ill tliu Maiden Handicap have shown form and there are several unknown quantities. Sports King and Valroe have notched minor platings this season and should therefore be worthy of consideration. Monetize has been galloping attractively and on track form looks an excellent prospect. Of the others, Glena Bay, Archevil and Ah Weru may bo the most likely. Mnnetizo will probably bo favourite over Vo 1 roe and Sports King. Tlie 'le Kiuti Cup tiaa attracted a useful field and tshould be un interesting race, ingh i'ltch does not appeal greatly and recent form suggests I'apatu as u better prospect, although the latter is a little fellow that may be steadied by his weight. Siaosi and Scliorr have ruceil well lately and have chalices, while 'liriokou, and The Lover may be the best ligjit-weights. Transformer has no recent torm. '1 he wagering should be good and the popular selections may include Siuosi, The Lover and Schorr. '1 here is a moderate tield m the Te Kunu Handicap. Whak.i King should go well in tht class, but may be held sale by Kipon Abbey, who has recently scored three successive victories over hurdles. IJakanoa is a promising hack likely to make a bold showing, while Brampton and Master Holey read best ot the others, hackers may show a preference tor Ripon Abbey, llakanoa and Master iioley. Seven sprinters figure in the Stewards Handicap. Tea Time lias won at his last two starts and should be hard to beat in this class. Macioom was very consistent lait season and may be nearing form again. Ar his best Town Hud would be dangerous under hit) light weight und will only have to strip well to have a following. Of the remainder, binison mny be tho pick. 1 'I ime may be the actual lavounte, with Town Bird and Liaison also in demand There is material for a good belting race in the Puketutu Handicap. 'I e horoko. Ihe Thorn and Mervetto have performed creditably in their latest engagements and aic in their right class. King Smock has not been racing well, and, unless he has come 011 in the last couple of weeks, may find it hard The Lamb should now be getting close to form and may be prominent Most support may come for Ihe Lhorn. Mervctte a "\ number "of those engaged in the Otorohunga Handicap have earner engagements a d Previous running may give.it guide to their prospects. Bu 010 reads nicely placed and others with chances are Bombarder, Lucy Rose. Whaka King. llakanoa and Oscar The field may not be so largo as appears likely und a few probable runners may he Biilolo, llakanoa and Lucy hose.
