PONY CLASSES STRONG.
MANY GOOD TEAMS LEFT
HUNTERS A USEFUL LOT. Larger entries in I lie horse classes were productive of keen competition, except in the c:ise of tho draughts, where tile tlispliiy was somewhat disappointing. Saddle horses and pomes wore well represented and showed that tho breeding of these utility animals is far from being neglected.
Tho popularity of hunting in the province was responsible for many fencers of very line type being brought undei the eye of the judge. The vogue of motor transport has not yet eliminated the breeding of some excellent team annuals, as will be evidenced when judging takes place to-day in the town horse classes, and in the leaping competitions some of the finest crosscountry horses in the North Island will face tho obstacles.
