HEALTH IN THE SCHOOLS.

DIPLOMAS FOR MASTERS. The need for headmasters of largo schools having some slight medical knowledge so that they may bo able to detect cases of infectious diseases among th« pupils under their care was urged at n recent meeting of tho Canterbury School Committees' Association by Mr. A. C. Maxwell, headmaster of the Phillipstown School. -Mr. Maxwell contended that no members of tho community were more concerned in tho health of school children than were tho headmasters and the teachers. Under tho present conditions tho whole of tho school work was disorganised, and it appeared that as time went on'tho health of school children was getting worse and worse. Hardly a year went by now without sonic break. The question arose what was the best way in which they could bo of assistance, and ho considered that thero should bo insti* tuted a school medical diploma.
