LABOUR DISSENSIONS.
HEATED SCENE IN COMMONS. % ■ ■ EXTREMISTS FORCE DIVISION. iiustrnlian Press Association—United Service LONDON, Nov. 21. A significant, indication of the internal dissensions in tho Labour Parly was given in tho House of Commons last evening, when the Socialist members from the Clyde challenged tho Government on a motion to regularisb pensions in tho diplomatic service. Mr. D. Kirk wood, Labou'r member for Dumbarton, said ho objected to pensions at the age of 60. No one should bo paid moro than £4OO a year. Tho Leader of tho party, Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, strongly supported the Government. Ifo said Stato servants must bo well paid There bad been too mifch leakago from the Civil Service into private industry recently. Messrs. G. Buchanan, J. Batev, J. Maxton and other members of tho left wing of tho party flouted Mr Mac Donald and Mr. J- 11. • Thomas, who also supported tho Government. After heated exchanges between the members on tho front and back benches, the tlydeside group forced a division. Tho Government's motion was carried. Thirty-three Labour members voted against it.
