ENGLISH TENNIS PLAYERS. TOURNAMENT AT SYDNEY. (Received November 22, 11.13 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 22. A tennis tournament between the visiting English players and New South Wales was begun at Sydney to-day. In the singles Higgs (England) beat Kalms, 2—6, 6—4, 6—2; Austin (England) beat Hopman, 6—3, 6—2. In the doubles Crawford and Hoprnan (New South Wales), beat Higgs and Collins, 6—3, 6 —2, 6—2; Kalms arid Willard (New South Wales), beat Gregory and Austin, 2—6, 6—4, 6—4, 6—2. Crawford played a fine game. For England Gregory was the outstanding player. BOXING AT SYDNEY STADIUM. VIC WHITE DEFEATS BIGLEY. SYDNEY, Nov. 22. At the Sydney Stadium 'last evening Vic White, Australian paper-weight boxing champion, won on points against Lcs Bigley, the Queensland' champion, in a bout of 15 rounds, after a splendid contest. Fred Lindrum again favourably impressed the crities to-day in his billiards match against Inman, especially in the afternoon, when ho pursued all-round methods of scoring and was never forced to alter his tactics. But in tho evening he failed to develop several good chances of scoring through failure to score off long red losers when the ball had to Lie struck finer than a half-ball. AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL. GAME PLAYED IN ENGLAND. Australian and N.Z. I'res3 Association. LONDON, Nov. '2l. An intcr-univnrsity football match, Oxford v. Cambridge, under Australian rules, was played to-day in pouting rain, and won by Cambridge. Mr. A. K. Kirk refereed. The. best players for Cambridge •were Maun, Young, Mates, Arnott and Wallace. Mann kicked five goals, Wallace and Walkley two eacb and Mates and Young one each. For Oxford Cooper, Allen, Wagner, Milton and Bawdon showed the best form. Mitton kicked three goals and Wentworth und Lavery ono each.
