RAILWAY EXCURSION.
LINE • NORTH FROM NAPIER.
OVER 900 PERSONS TRAVEL

The Railway Department to-day ran an excursion train from Waipuknrau to Tulira, 30 miles north from Napier, tho farthest point it is yet possible to reach on this end of the East Coast railway. Tho object of the excursion was to give an opportunity to the people of Hawkc's Bay to gain an understanding of Ihn immensity of tho undertaking, and that they might see at first hand evidence of the progress being made with tho construction of the line.
The route, on which thero are several long stiff grades, has involved tho construction of numerous embankments, bridges, and viaducts. Moro than 900 persons made the trip.
