MINERS CEASE WORK.
DISPUTE AT GLEN AFTON. QUESTION OF " WET" PAY. [)IY TELKUIIAVH. —OWN COItRESI'ON DENT. ] HAMILTON, Wednesday. The New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company's coalmine at Glen Afton was idle yesterday afternoon and to-day, following a dispute which arose between the miners and the management regarding the question whether there was suflicient dampness in the mine to warrant a claim by the truckers that they were entitled to special rates known as "wet" pay. The management considered there was not sufficient dampness in the mine to justify the claim. Negotiations are proceeding and it is expected that the dispute will end to-morrow.
There has been no trouble at Glen Afton for over two years, and the present disagreement is nut regarded as serious.
