THE AUCKLAND CLUB. SUCCESSFUL EVENING MEETING. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club opened its series of evening meetings at the Domain yesteniiy, when some splendid running and cyc'jng wero witnessed. The sports, however, \j;ere marred b.v poor starting, the result ol using a doublebarrelled shot-gun. I'J 1 lie 100 yds. no fewer than six false starts were made before the field was eventually despatched to an unsatisfactory start. The starter was powerlees to intervene, and the winner, E. T. Mincham, had all the best of the start. Be is a promising sprinter, having won a maiden event on Labour Day. The cycle events proved very spectacular, and the brilliant riding of J. H. Wade in the senior grade event was a feature of the racing. The finish of the B grade cycle handicap saw three riders flash past tho finishing line locked together. Tho results wero as follows:
