WELFARE LEAGUE'S MEETING.
Tlio annual meeting of the Fapatoetoo Welfaro League was held in the Meth/>dist Hall, Papatoetoe, Mr. J. G. Browne presiding over a large attendance of members.
The annual report showed that the league had enjoyed a fairly successful year, and had been ins< rameutal in bringing about soino needed reforms, including the lighting of the .main streets* Tho balance-sheet showed the league to be in a sound position. Tho following officers wero elected:-* President, Mr. C'losey; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. G. Browne and P. Chamber* lain; executive, Messrs. J. Stalker, Jelfs, Mcehan, KiHd, and Newcombo; secretary, Mr. \V. -A. Ncsbit; treasurer, Mr. Kidd. Jt was decided to ask tho Town Board to grant a subsidy of £1 for every £4 raised by members of tho firo brigade to provide uniforms. It was also decided to draw tho attention of tho board to tho footpath on the eastern side of the Great South lload, urging its completion in tha interests of tho school-children who used it.
