SHOPLIFTING CHARGES.
TWO WOMEN REMANDED.
Ties, stockings, shirts and remnants were among the £l7 15s worth of articles enumerated in a chargo of theft from a city drapery establishment preferred against two women, aged 35 and 45, in tho Police Couit yesterday. Each accused was remanded to appear next. Tuesday, bail being allowed. In the meantime their names were suppressed by the magistrate, Mr. F. Iv. Hunt. Pleas of guilty were entered by Huia Keith Allen, aged 22, labourer, who was charged on three counts with theft. According to Acting Chief-Detective Kelly accused, who is serving a sentence of 18 months' imprisonment, liad committed a series of offences on the waterfront. .1 ho present three charges were only brought to clean tho matter up. Because of this fact the magistrate said it would be sufficient if ho convicted and discharged accused. Tho use of obscene language in Baker Street was responsible for the appearance of Mabel Jackson, aged 27, a domestic. Accused, who admitted her guilt, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on within 12 months.
