COMMUNITY SUNSHINE.

A general meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary was held in the Community Sunshine Buildings, Nelson Street, this week. There was a large attendance of members. The president welcomed the members to the first general meeting to be held in tho building under the auspices of the association and spoke of the Sunshine School, which it is proposed to inaugurate in addition to the Community Club, for the children. A certain section of tlie building had been set aside for tins purpose. It was planned to conduct the fchnol on modern lines and make it practically open-air. In addition to educational and medical attention it was hoped to give a certain number of meals. It was stated that the honorary architect was preparing plans lor the alterations. Dr. Ada Patterson, Director of School Hygiene for the Dominion, had visited the site, accompanied by Dr. Hughe*. Both had expressed sympathy and giati ('nation that such a school was to be established. It would take a considerable sum of irionev. which was immediately needed if the school was to open in the new venr. Furnishings for the building were also needed and gifts for. this purpose wouhKhe gratetullv accepted. Plans for the forthcoming Paddy s market to be held early in December wen? discussed, and Mrs. J. C llloinficld. the organiser, explained the scheme. The following ladies were appointed a badge committee with Mrs. I'raft as convener:—Mesdames Ernest Davis. I'ren dergast, Butcher, Birks, and Restall. A diagram of the new pmUlem was passed round and much admired bv the mem bers.
