CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
POLICE STATION INCIDENT. BUILDER BEFORE THE COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DANNEVIRKE, Thursday. A sequel to the case in which James Humphreys, builder, was a defendant in tho Magistrate's Court yesterday, took place this morning, when Humphreys was charged with assaulting a police con stable.
It was stated that accused went to the police station yesterday afternoon and complained of being followed by women and children. While being questioned by police officers he became resentful, and asked: "L)o you want to fight?" lie then struck Constable R carton a blow on the left oar. Ho was overpowered and arrested. Accused was remanded for a week for medical observation.
