UNITED BUILDING SOCIETY.
SATISFACTORY PAST YEAR. Tho twenty-second annual meeting of tho United Permanent Building and Investment Society was held yesterday,-Mr. Robert Ncill, chairman of directors, presiding. Moving tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet, reviewed in the Herald on October 19, tho chairman referred to the fact that there had been some difficulty during the year in finding suitable security on tho lower basis of valuations adopted, but operations had proved satisfactory. After providing fi substantial sum against possible losses, a profit slightly in advance of that of last year had been shown. Payment of a dividend of 7J.- per cent, was authorised, and a bonus of £125 was voted to the secretary, Mr. W. W. Scott. The retiring directors, Messrs. N. Alfred Nathan and Robert Burns, were re-elected. Messrs. W. J. A. Thomson and A. M. Seaman were reappointed auditors.
