SAFETY FIRST ON TRAMS.
Sir, —As a visitor to your fair city I frequently travel by your well-organised system of trams, but I have been surprised to see the drivers, while in the crowded parts of the city, frequently talking to the passengers who stand outside, even when there is room inside. I think this shows a shocking disregard for the safely of the public and I wish most respectfully to call the attention of the authorities to the matter. The London tram-driver is boxed in, so that no passenger can speak to him. All new trams ought to bo constructed on this safe plan. A Visitor.
