THE WEST COAST ROAD.

Sir,— Probably there is no finer drive in New Zealand than through our beautiful Waitakere Ranges, so much neglected and so close to Auckland. The West Coast Road has recently been made a main highway. This load only requires a few bad patches metalled. It would then be possible to take the round trip in all weathers, via McEhvain's Road, round to Henderson Valley Road. At present after a heavy shower the road is almost impassable. A very small outlay is necessary. Could not something bo done to get even the bad patches repaired, as this drive is one of_ Auckland's richest assets. Kauri.
