Mr. Cochran has a distinguished record. A student of Auckland University Col lege, ho started as nn entrance scholar and won a senior university scholarship in English at the sumo time qnalifyintr also for the scholarship in French. He graduated as master of arts with firstclass honours in English and French in 1924, and in 1925 was awarded a postgraduate scholarship in arts. lie proceeded to Oxford, graduating as bachelor of arts with high second-class honours.
