DESTITUTE GIRLS.
HOME AT TAKAPUNA. % * MORE FUNDS REQUIRED.
Referenco to the gift of the late Sir Henry Brett's home at Takapuna, "Te Kiteroa," to the Church of England was made by Archbishop Averill in his address to synod yesterday. The Primate said it was hoped to make the homo available for 80 girls and to replace the present home for destitute girls at Richmond Road. Although £3OOO at, least was needed to carry out necessary alterations before tho building would be suitable, only £I2OO had been received to date. The response to the appeal for funds had not been sufficient to justify necessary work being undertaken in the meantime.
"As; soon as we can transfer the children to Takapuna, we hope to lease or sell the homo in Richmond Road and thereby derive some revenue for the up keep of the new home," His Grace added "The chapel erected in memory of Sister Cecile is the only real difficulty, but we liopo to transfer all that is movable in connection with tho chapel to a new chapel to be built at the new home and to regard it still as a memorial to Sister Cecile. "I am very anxious that the home itself should bo a worthy memorial to the late Sir Henry Brett, who was always such a true friend and generous supporter of the Church."
