HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours, from 7 a.m. to-day, was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M..Vincent last evening:— Fair to cloudy weather is indicated, but unsettled at times, with scattered showers, particularly in districts near the west coast, and in southern areas. Southerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong, decreasing shortly. Seas moderating. The recent disturbance is now passing eastward, and conditions are likely to improve everywhere. Thoro is evidence, however, of a tropical disturbance developing north-westward of the Dominion. Meanwhile, mainly fair to fine weather should rule. Cold night temperatures, with inland frosts. Barometer, midnight, rising .. •}0.151n. Midnight, Wednesday .. 29.70 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows Yesterday's depression is passing away eastwards. A moderate anti-cyclone is moving on to the Dominion and its centre will probably pass to the northward. Indications are for fresh to strong but decreasing south-west-erly winds, veering to north-west again in the south. Seas rather rough, but decreasing in New Zealand waters generally. Moderate south-westerlies and moderate seas in the north-cast Tasman; moderate to strong south-west to north-west and rather rough seas in the central, east and south-east portions. Somo showers on tho west coast of the South Island and aboui. Foveaux Straits, othorwisc weather fair to line. Cool temperatitres with some inland frosts. RAINFALL RECORD.
