FIRST COMBINED MEETING.
PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW
KEEN CONTESTS ANTICIPATED.
The Grst combined sports meeting of tho Auckland Secondary Schools' Athletic Association will bo held at tho Domain to-morrow, tho first event commencing at 2 o'clock. For somo time past there has been a feeling that athletics were worthy of a higher place in secondary school activities, and the present meeting is being hold as an experiment. It is hoped tho meeting will be successful enough to establish it as an annual fixture. For several years past such fixtures have been held in Southern centres and have created almost as much enthusiasm as the football and cricket contests.
There will bo two competitions, a senior and a junior, and somo keen racing is anticipated. Each school will bo represented by two runners in each event, and by ono team of four in the relay race. Tho competing schools will bo as follows: —Auckland Grammar School, King's College, Mount Albert Grammar School, Sacred Heart College, St. Stephen's School, Seddon Memorial Technical College, and Takapuna Grammar School.
The senior events will include contests over distances from 100 yds. to ono mile, 120 yds. hurdles, broad and high jumps, and a milo relay race. Tho junior programme will be tho samo as tho senior with the omission of the milo race.
As a large attendance of tho public is expected every possible arrangement is being mado for its comfort. A band will be in attendance, afternoon tea will be procurable on the ground, and attendants will assist in tho parking of cars.
