BIRKDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
A public meeting, convened by the Women's Institute, wa3 held in the Birkdale Public Hull, on Tuesday evening, to discuss the formation of a public library. Tho library was recently formed by tho Women's Institute for tho benefit of its members, and the proposal to divert it to the use of tho public has been under consideration for some time. It was unanimously decided to work in conjunction with tho hall trustees and committee, and nil inns diato start in erecting tho necessary fittings is to be made. Quarterly, half-yearly and yearly subscriptions wcro arranged, and, as many of thoso present mado their payments in advance, sufficient was collected to purchaso a number of new volumes*
