BOROUGH OF DEVONPORT.
WICKETS FOR CRICKET. UNVEILING ALISON CLOCK. The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. E. Aldridge, presiding. The Public Works Department notified the granting of a further subsidy of £IOO for the unemployment relief work at Melrose Park. The St. John Ambulance Association was granted permission to take up a street collection on Friday, November 2. It was decided to make application toft Government subsidy on tho unexpended funds which are available for work in connection with tho Stanley Bay Park. Tho Auckland Cricket Association wrote offering £3O toward tho laying-out and maintenance of two wickets on tho Rugby ground. The work will be proceeded with immediately, and the wickets will be available in November.
Th 9 council's appreciation of tho Government grant of £SOO toward tho cost of investigation of the harbour bridge project was recorded, and letters of thanks are to be forwarded to the Prime Minister and Mr. A. Harris, M.P. The ceremony of unveiling the clock erected in honour of the Hon. E. W. Alison was fixed for Saturday, October 27.
