NEW LYNN TOWN BOARD.

WORK ON THE WHAU BRIDGE. The New Lynn Town Board mot on Tuesday, the chairman, Mr. W. L. Titchener, presiding. The traffic inspector reported that on September 30. from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 1440 vehicles passed over the Whau Bridge, an average of 480 an hour. In reporting on tho Whau Bridge the board's engineer stated work had been commenced on strengthening and repairing, and should bo finished in about a week. The bridge could then be opened again for heavy traffic, but it was a recommendation that the services of (he traffic inspector should bo retained to enforce the speed limit regulations. Tho cost of tho work should not exceed £250 Tho eriginnprs further stated they had notified the City Council engineer of tlio proposed strengthening and repairs, and he, in turn, had furnished them with a copy of his report to the council. It was decided to reply stating that in view of the early concreting 4>f the road very little work would bo done, only sufficient to keep tho road m fail repair. A telegram was received from the Prime Minister stating if would be noccssar> lor New Lynn to make application for' inclusion on the new Transport Board. The board decided not to mnko application until tho ratepayers' wishes wero made known.
