ELEGTRIC-POWER SURVEY. MAINTENANCE OF ROADS. TbY TEI.EGRArn. OWN CORRESPONDENT.! PAPAROA, Wednesday. At a meeting of the Otamatca County Council to-day the question of a load survey for hydro electric power was again considered, ['rices for the work were received from the engineer and a committee was given power to act. It was decided to ask the Main Highways Board lo define the main highway from Birkenhead to the Maungaturoto County. It was decided to apply for the following giants:—Bnrcli and Lindquist Roads* £135, free; Taylor's Road. Mareretu, £'lo. pound for pound; Hall, Drummond and Silich Roads £475, free; Kaiwaka Settlement Road, £SO, pound for pound. It was arranged that members of the council should meet the delegates to the Empire Forestry Conference as they pass through Maungaturoto on October 19. The delegates will come from Auckland by train arm go through to Dargaville and the Waipoua forest, returning the next day
