TEMPERANCE WORK.
Tlio mooting of tlio Auckland Women's Cliristian Temperanco Union was held on Tuosday afternoon in tlio club room of the Y.W.C.A. Mrs. John Cook presided over ft Rood attendance. Maori Day was observed and a collection was taken to help the W.C.T.U. work among the Maori women. Mrs. Fulljames, superintendent of this department of the work, gave a very interesting report and said how much the Maoris appreciated the parcels of clothing and tho practical sympathy of the unions in Auckland. The work at Nine had also been encouraging. Mrs. Paisley, president of the lnvorcargill South Union, was present at the meeting and gave a report of the work in that part of the Dominion. An assortment of garments was sent in by members for the Willard Children's Homo at Falmerston North, and a donation sent to its funds. Grants were passed to various departments of tho work. A donation was given to tho work of Major Gordon among tiie women prisoners and also to the backblocks work to enable tho committee to send toys to the children in tho isolated parts of the provinco. It was decided to hold tho annual meeting in November.
