EILUE AFTERNOON. Mrs. Sinclair Arthur gave a very enjoyable "Blue" afternoon last week for Miss Rita Burley. The rooms were arranged with bowls of Argentine sweet peas. Recitations and an amusing competition kept everyono busy until tea time. Little Margaret Arthur presented the guest of honour with a posy of pink and blue flowers. After tea had been served Mrs. Arthur presented Miss Burley with a large blue bell containing many useful and dainty gifts, with the best wishes of all present. Mrs. Arthur received her guests in a frock of cyclamen georgette and floral lace; Miss Burley was wearing a frock of peach accordion-pleated georgette and silver lace, with hat to tone. I Jul lock, \Y. A. Green. Henderson, Garratt, Gize, Reeves, Miller, J. Joll. R. Houghton, and Misses Morris, I. Collier. E. Wright and Q. Warren. G-ardeiting Circle Afternoon, The gardening circle of the Lyceum Club spent a pleasant afternoon on Thursday in Mrs. If. Valder's garden, River Road. An interesting time was enjoyed in going through the beautiful garden, winch is looking at its best just now. The members present included-Mes-dames Gibbons, J. W. Walsh, ,T. D. Smith, J. McKinnon, N. Hooker, H. Toombs:, If. G. Gilbert Brewer, V. Chitty, Gordon Smith, E. Walders, .T. Chi.tty, P. Cleary, McCormack and Miss Roby. Personal. Miss G. Young, of Auckland, has been spending a few days in Hamilton with her sister, Miss M. Young. Mrs. Godfrey, of .Te Awarnutu, has been visiting Mrs. Burtenshaw. Miss B. "Shaw, of New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. J. H. Hammond. Miss 0. Kirby, of Hamilton East, is spending » holiday at Rotorua. Miss I. Ruddock, of Auckland, is staying with her sister, Mrs. J. Mackay, of River Road. Miss K. Horton, -Miss I). Morton, and Miss M. Goldwater, of Auckland, are in Hamilton for the South. Auckland ladies golf tournament, and are the guests of Mrs. W. Gibson, of Orini Lodge.
