DELAY ON MAIN TRUNK.
GOODS WAGGONS DERAILED. DAMAGE DONE TO TRACK. EXPRESS TRAINS HELD UP. ARRIVAL THIS AFTERNOON. Nino or ten waggons of a mixed goods train bound from Marton to Taihape were derailed late yesterday afternoon, causing extensive damage to a length of the Main Trunk line. It was expected at an early hour this morning that the track would bo cleared in timo for the Welling. ton-Auckland expresses to arrive here—probably as ono train —some time this afternoon. The snapping of the axle of a coal waggon of the goods train as it was nearing Mangaonoho, about halfway between Marlon and Taihape, at 5.45 p.m., caused eight or nine of the following trucks to leave tho line, damaging over 40 yards of track. Tho engine and guard's van did not leave the rails. According to advice received early this morning both north and south-bound Main Trunk expresses would be delayed six to nine hours, it being hoped to have the lino cleared during the small hours of this morning. It was not expected tho WellingtonAuckland expresses would arrive here until three or four o'clock this afternoon, probably as one train.
