DESTRUCTION BY FIRE.
BUSINESS BLOCK BURNED. SERIOUS LOSS AT LEVIN. [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] LEVIN, Monday. A serious fire occurred late on Saturday night in premises occupied by Ince and Company, drapers, Mr. G. JD. Hamilton, accountant, Mr. V. Henderson, tailor, and Miss Williams, dressmaker. Tho fire had a strong hold when the alarm was given, and though tho outbreak was confined to the block where it originated, the stocks and buildings were a total lo^s. The insurance on Ince's stock is £SOOO, and on fittings £500; and on Mr. Hamilton's office furniture, £IOO. The building, which belonged to the Stiles and Matheson Estate, was insured for £3OOO. DWELLING AT OTAHUHU. SEVERE DAMAGE CAUSED. A five-roomed dwelling in Albert Street, Otahuhu, owned and occupied by Mr. Charles Jamieson, was severely damaged by firo about nine o'clock last evening. Tho flames had a strong hold when the Otahuhu brigade arrived. It is thought the firo started in the ceiling of tho kitchen. <• Tho insurances are held by the Government under the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Scheme.
